CUNY INTERNSHIP: OPEN POSITION

Local Technique seeks an intern in print design and book production for the summer of 2021. This is an in-person position at our studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Successful completion of the internship will lead to a part-time or full-time paying position with the company.

THE STRUCTURE

The candidate will work side-by-side with our editor-in-chief to design and print a cookbook, from concept to final press.

The candidate will interact with professional photographers, designers, recipe editors, and proofreaders as part of their daily work.

Monthly and weekly goals and expectations will be communicated in writing, and the candidate will receive regular feedback as part of the internship. Successful completion of the internship objectives will lead to a paying position with the company, if the candidate chooses to accept it.

Local Technique is a start-up operated by Adrienne Anderson, a veteran of food media in NYC. The candidate will get a firsthand look into the entrepreneurial process of working as a designer in the rapidly changing world of food media.

This position requires 35 hours of work per week.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Adobe Creative Suite, particularly: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator (link to portfolio required)

  • Demonstrable experience with artistic printmaking and/or typography (link to portfolio required)

  • Attention to detail and excellent digital file management skills

  • Punctuality, professionalism, and a desire to learn as much as possible about the business of professional design
